when the Gilmore girls and judging Amy both were on the air,way before I knew the term fan-fiction, my mother and I would make up stories about Emily running into Maxine at some function helping foster kids or Lorelai meeting Amy through friends.

Amy and Maxine’s mother-daughter relationship is so interesting. It’s like sometimes they’re mother-daughter, sometimes they’re friends, sometimes (a lot of times) they clash. Sometimes one will be mad at the other but they put it aside if the other is having a tough time with something. We do find out that Amy resents Maxine for a number of things when she was growing up, but their time of living together during the span of the show adds more layers and nuances to their relationship that are really interesting to watch.
