There were some parts of working at the Medicenter that still challenged Arden. She had spent the better part of her career as an emergency medicine physician, trained in stabilizing the sickest of the sick and the mostly badly injured, and then moving on to the next patient. Long-term management and rehabilitation wasn’t her speciality. But the island demanded what it demanded and Arden rose to the occasion as best she could.
Which is why she had spent the better part of the night studying physical therapy exercises for shoulders in preparation for Amy’s follow up appointment. Controlling bleeding and preventing infection had been the first priorities when Amy had arrived on the island, but she was pretty much in the clear from those now. Her focus needed to shift on maintaining as much mobility and strength in the injured shoulder as she could. So Arden would play at being a physical therapist. It was better than nothing, but Arden still stressed that her patients deserved more than she could give them here.
A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts and Arden looked up with a smile. “You’re a few minutes early. Come on in.”
