For the first time I see a full smile on her face as silvery tears of joy well up in her eyes.

I do not understand her reaction, but soon I can't help but smile myself.

She silently wipes away her tears as the clock strikes midnight, then holds out a bladed hand for me to take.

Grabbing hold, I feel the familiar bite of her edge as a shiver runs down my spine.

I then follow Aerinbol as she silently leads me into the night, never once looking back.

She whispers in my ear as we lay together on the ground.

Telling me to close my eyes and embrace the night.

I do as she says, slowly letting my worries drift away.

She follows, softly in the wake of sadness.

The sand of a finite hourglass, almost to its end, is barely audible in the distance.

It is a sad, but welcome fate.

A mercury tear runs down her ashen face as she desperately reaches her hand out to me.

I do not understand the urgency of her actions and hesitate before slowly lifting my hand.

She silently screams as the final grain of sand slips free of the glass, our hands almost touching.

It is then that I feel a gentle warmth behind me, the morning sun come to chase the night away.

I watch as Aerinbol silently cries out in pain as the sun burns away her flesh, leaving nothing but a charred skeleton in its wake.

With my beloved Aerinbol dead, I could finally begin to live.

There are times when I remember her ivory smile and scorched lips as she wispered in my ear.

Telling me how easy it would be to run away with her to the night.

But to be honest, I was tired of running.
