I’ve been rewatching season 1 and I’m getting confused about Amethyst’s background, because there are some contradictions.

1. Was Amethyst inspired to reform with long hair because of Greg?

in “Story for Steven” we see a childlike, short-haired Amy meet Greg and she says “I love your hair!”

But in “So Many Birthdays” we see that painting of the CGs in old-timey clothes on a boat, and Amethyst has long hair!

So maybe this was just a contradiction or mistake on the artist’s part, but Rebecca says everything is considered when designing an episode. So idk.

I only ask this because when I first saw “Story for Steven” I LOVED the idea that Amethyst’s hair was inspired by Greg’s, and the painting in “So Many Birthdays” contradicts that. (I hope it’s nothing and her hair really is meant to be inspired by Greg’s.)

2. Why is Amethyst so “child-like” in “Story for Steven”?

Don’t gems come out fully formed? The timeline seems skewed on when Amethyst emerged. Maybe unlike other gems, Amethyst experienced a little bit of “aging” because she’s a runt? Someone please explain this to me
