hi james. so i had a quick question about your comics! how you do make your speech bubbles? yours look so perfect, thanks!! ;D
No problem, I'll just do some screencaps for this.
I think people do the speech bubbles first usually, but I prefer to have the shape of the type laid out beforehand. You can do the same thing the other way around though, doesn't make too much of a difference.
First, use the ellipse tool to make the a circle around your type like so.
Then use the pen tool to make the shape of the tail, leading to the character's mouth. (To taper the end of the tail, hold alt and click on the corner of it)
Then with your shape done, right click your layer and go to blending options (which should be on the top of the dropbox). Then go to 'stroke', make sure the box is checked, and you can edit the speech bubble's outline from there.
If you're as fussy about speech bubbles having sharp tails as I am, choose 'inside' from the stroke position dropbox (as shown underneath). You can have the speech bubble outline positioned outward, but then the tail will have a rounded edge. Because the stroke is on the inside, however, you need to account for the inside of the speech bubble to lose space, so make it a little bigger than you need it to be, depending on how thick the outline is.
And there you go! (Though I did make the tail a little thicker than it needed to be, but this is just a demo)
dammit why do you have infinite scroll on i just sat here for a good hour
