I So yeah, this is me at @mcdonalds last week trying to look cute but instead just looking pissed because Justin and I got into an argument when trying to find @chickfila on our way to Atlanta. 🤷🏻‍♀️ we ended up having the best day ever but this is one of the only pictures I got 😂 I honestly hatedeverything about this photo and I didn’t want to post it. Then I realized that my Instagram feed doesn’t need to be a highlight reel. To be honest, I’ve been in quite a creative funk when it comes to the little squares that make up my feed. You know what I realized? I don’t really care how perfect my feed looks anymore. What I care about is getting the chance to write this long ass captions and chat with you all about what you’re struggling with. We’re all struggling with something and I’d much rather pour my energy into helping others than worrying about creating the perfect Instagram feed. Do you know that I actually haven’t posted as much because I feel like people will get sick of seeing wedding pictures? Today I wrote a blog post that I was sure going to be a total flop. I was so nervous to hit publish because, as always, I over analyzed my writing style, second guessed the entire post in general, and changed it half a dozen times before finally hitting publish. I’ve never really shared how scary sharing my writing is with y’all. To me, what I write is the most vulnerable version of myself. That’s why it’s so scary every time I hit publish. But I was blown away by the response I got in today’s little post about West Point. I’m sitting here right now typing this caption as we’re on our way into NYC for the day and trying to come up with a way to put into words the emotions that have come with the last week. As you all know, Justin and I are in a great stage of celebration what with his graduation from West Point and our Wedding happening in the last 5 days, but what you don’t know is that we’re also experiencing a period of great loss. Last night Justin said to me, “This is a great reminder that we need to tell the people we love everyday that we love them.” I couldn’t think of a better way to honor the memories of our lost loved ones than with that. I have seen so many prayer requests in the last week about praying that it doesn’t rain on your wedding day. After the first three, I started to find it kind of hilarious. After all, it’s just rain! Isn’t praying for rain like praying that nothing bad ever happens in your life? Hate to break it to you, but some days it’s going to rain. Even if it’s your wedding day. Heck, they’ve got rain in the forecast for mine next week! But I’m not worried. Wanna know why? Because I’m not praying that there’s no rain. I’m praying that God grants us the grace to make it through the rain. There are always going to be hard days, rainy days, days that don’t go our way at all. I remember the first time I saw this quote. Justin and I were in hobby lobby looking for wedding stuff (we vlogged it) and I still regret not buying the sign. I made a vow that I would not just love this quote but also live it. As you may or may not know, the blog is getting a bit of a makeover in the next few months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Over the last year of blogging, I’ve been so blessed to get to know y’all. But I noticed a trend in the comments and messages. We were all searching for something. A sense of community that seemed to be fleeting online. And thus, The AM Coffee Collective was born. The AM Coffee Collective is a place for all of us to gather and find support through an online community.
