Today is the feast of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, one of the greatest saints of our time. And a true example of what it means to live our lives for God.
I've just watched the movie MOTHER TERESA, and I feel there is so much I need to change about my life. I need to pay more attention to the very many people who need my love around me.
Mother Teresa says I don't need to go to India, I just have to open my eyes, and I'll see Calcutta right where I am.
I must see Jesus in everyone one, especially those who suffer. I should worship him in them, I should care for him in them. This was the mission of Mother Teresaβthis is my mission as a Catholic. I must be courageous, because it took more than just a kind heart for Mother Teresa to do what she did; to kneel down before a sick, abandoned man in a crowded city, to face the judging eyes of everyone and not care, to keep hoping even when there was no reason to. It took courage, too. I must also be courageous in order to act with charity.
Love is my mission, and it doesn't end in saying that. I must feel this love, even as I give it. And the only way to do this is to go out and look for the people who need it, and give it to them.
My vocation is to love.
Mother Teresa, pray for us.
