Jean was rather indulgent today. They finished off their mission without a hitch. Rico managed to capture three terrorists without being injured, so she doesnāt have to head back to the Agency to be fixed up. And much to Ricoās surprise, Jean decided to let her wander around on her own. Heāll still be watching from a distant of course, as he was her handler after all. But she was allowed to look around Venice with virtually no restrictions. At least until Jean call her over.
Rico idly wonder if Jean was being nice for a reason. She couldnāt think of any reason why would he let her wander around. She did her job, but it was to be expected. She was Jeanās tool after all. And he was the type where if itās not business related, he wonāt bother with it. Rewards were rare, and are often in form of pats and worded praise. They havenāt visit Sophiaās grave, so this kindness could not be attribute to the visit. Maybe this was her reward?
Stillā¦it was rather nice to be out. Rico liked her rare trips to Venice. The Agencyās ground were nice at least compared to a hospital bed. But it was still a government agency. And because Social Welfare Agency was supposed to be just helping disabled kids, as opposed to turning them into cyborgs to fight terrorism, it was rather isolated, seeing that it was located on the outskirt of Rome. And too far away for any ocean view. So Rico found herself loving the ocean view. Ā Maybe if she sees it every day she would get bored of it. But she doubts it.
From her rare trips to Venice, she figured out Piazza San Marco was the best place to look at the ocean from. It was practically over teeming with tourists, but that didnāt bother her. She loves how people seem to enjoy the sights, and it made her feel less lonely. And the piazza has a bridge which she was told, would give her a good view of the Bridge of Sighs.
And that she was doing now. Observing the Bridge of Sighs.
She was told by one of Venetian earlier today, that it was named that because āThe prisoners, that walked across the bridge, were on their way to the executioner. And the prisoners would "sigh" as they crossed the bridge, probably catching their last glimpse of the outside worldā
It was rather sad. But still interesting. And that was why she was looking at it. The bridge was still a good distant away, but her enchanted eyes could make out the carving well enough. She knows she could get a gondolaĀ to take her closer if she had the money. But she doubt Jean would approve.
Still it really was nice. She wished she had someone to talk to about the bridge. But Jean probably wouldnāt be interested. Still, it didnāt stop her from glancing around curiously to find someone who wouldnāt mind talking to a 14 years old about a bridge. Surely not everyone was here with family, right?
