Happy summer, lovelies! Mixing it up a bit with some green tea to soothe and moisturize as things heat up—I got a little extra sun on my nose this weekend, too, so I'm trying to prevent peeling (I KNEW I should have worn a hat!). SPF today will be courtesy of mineral powder foundation—I don't leave the house without it. I recently picked up this Mario Badescu facial spray before a weekend trip, and I'm kind of loving it. It's very cooling and soothing and actually somewhat moisturizing without feeling heavy, perfect for summertime. Like, Mario, babe: come out with a creamy foaming cleanser and some kind of essence and you will get 110% of my brand loyalty again. I love their seaweed products something serious. The Innisfree Green Tea line is still one of my all-time favorites as well, however—the Balancing Skin (essence, as I understand it) and Lotion are nice and light but still effective for combination skin in the summertime. I'm also becoming a big fan of the Origins GinZing eye cream; I feel like it noticeably depuffs very quickly and layers really nicely over other products. Stay cool, my sweets, and take a moment to celebrate light and warmth over the next few days!
Very lazy, very minimalist but also still kind of grown-up feeling routine this morning. Lagom has become one of my favorite lines, and everything works so nicely with the Lotus essence and the Graymelin eye serum. I feel like this is my best baseline routine: cleanse, tone, essence, eye, moisturizer (with SPF for daytime). I especially love this Lagom Cellus Sun Gel (even though it's not really a gel, I really need to learn why this is a thing with Korean SPFs): its super lightweight, absorbs quickly, doesn't have a heavy fragrance, and doesn't leave me greasy in 20 minutes. And getting SPF 50 on my face every day gives me hope that I can at least stop any future sun damage in its tracks. I've found this kind of routine also works well in the summertime with powder foundations—I've been trying to streamline my makeup looks too, and a good skincare system is the best base for makeup you can get!
Top Tips for Preventing Blackheads
Blackheads are open pores that have become clogged with sebum and dead skin cells. Although it may appear that the colour of them is due to dirt, this is actually due to oxidation of the contents once it is exposed to air. Blackheads are most commonly found on the body where oil production is higher, such as the t-zone, back, and chest. The best method to address them is an intentional one, so if…
Skincare Essentials - AM and PM Routines
As a mum, one of the first things I tend to let go when things get busy is my own self care. Sometimes it feels impossible to wake up every morning and take the time to take care of my self. However, when I actually dedicate 10 minutes in the morning and before bed to practice self care, I feel exponentially better. Skincare isn’t all about looking beautiful. It’s about feeling your best inside…

Despite many of us replacing our 10-step routines with minimalistic skincare, our skin has certainly been living its best life in the past two years. It’s no surprise, aside from the occasional bout of maskne, we’ve been wearing way less makeup, spending way less time in the sun, and the air has been way less pollutant. Plus, we’ve been spending more time focussing on skincare routines and…

A writer's morning routine
A writer’s morning routine
Morning? WHY? And why are some of us coffee fiends before 8 am. Good morning, friends! I decided maybe you would enjoy my morning routine info to get you motivated to maybe create one? I didn’t use to have one, either. It behooved me to do anything before 8 AM aside from drinking coffee and bemoan my fate. But now, since I am sort of retired, I needed some structure. So, in all it’s ugliness,…
