A guard. She had been greeted mostly by princes and princess thus far, so hearing his take on things was sure to be interesting. She had heard many rumors circulating the palace walls back home about what the royal guards often saw and experienced. This, on the other hand, had to be one of the more tame events he had to put up with. The wine was starting to work it’s magic as her mind began to wonder, “My pleasure. As for the festivity, it’s different. Nothing I would normally participate in on my own accord, if I were back home, but a well needed bit of fun. This must be a break for you as well, or is a guard’s duty never done?” She smiled softly at him as she nibbled on some cheese.

Klaus could agree with her words. He hadn't often partaken in anything of the sorts if his job hadn't required him to, and even so, he might have been able to weasel out of participating, but in Khatanga it seemed like it was easier to bend to the extravagant wishes of the organization, and although the German would never say it out loud, those events were more about endurance than enjoyment. "You could put it that way," he nodded, and one corner of his mouth twitched up. "Once you get the hand of your duty and what hangs on the line, can you say you are ever able to fully take a break?" He wondered, and he thought she might be able to relate to the statement. Most royals in her position would draw that parallel.
