Lucifer didn't think he'd ever move on from Lilith. In recent years he has given in to instincts and desires, but they never meant anything. He could and would easily forget whomever it was that warmed his bed that night. In either holding hope or maintaining an illusion, he still believed it was merely a separation that would conclude and eventually, his family would return to what the portraits detailed. They were immortal, time was different for them.
Then he met Alastor.
The jealousy he felt at how close he'd gotten to Charlie wasn't something he's felt in literal ages. It was blended with his guilt of how he failed her. He wanted to remain close to her now that she's welcomed him back, he wouldn't fail her again. Alastor was his biggest challenge in winning her favor, so he constantly found himself going toe to toe with him in musical battle and words of wit. As annoyed as he felt, it was also the most alive he's felt in a long time. Before bearing the responsibility of Hell began to completely crush his spirit.
When the shift happened and their arguments held a bit less hostility and became something he looked forward to...actually sought out....he ignored it. He didn't want to look at it deeper than it was. The ring on his finger weighed heavier than it ever has in the past seven years, even on those nights that held his flings.
He began to offer Alastor rides to his meetings or errands with the excuse that as much as he didn't care for the Sinner, he meant a lot to his daughter. Lucifer also wasn't blind to the power Alastor held and it just made sense for a powerful ally to be taken care of so Charlie and her Hotel were taken care of.
But soon enough...they were spending time in the palace. Away from prying eyes or nosy ears.
Alastor and his Shadow, Ombre, became a new constant...one that he wouldn't deny feeling attracted to...and now here they were. In something new. Figuring out...well...them.
There was still very plenty of them to figure out still...and yet, Lucifer hate that he's become rather...clingy. Not overbearlingly so, he likes to think...but having been given his space to be lost in his own whims the past seven years, he's used to doing what he wants whenever and however, with people still recognizing him as King.
So meetings with Overlords that Alastor had to go to? Not his favorite. He could never know which ones would end on time or which ones would have Al off doing whatever it was he needed to do.
During the make-out session, he encourages Al to bite him more, giving him more taste of his ichor blood that's not found anywhere else in Hell, in hopes it'll keep him longer.
