The Knight’s Grim Reaper (1/3)
The Knight showed no sign of surprise. "Who are you?"
"A Wizard, you might say."
He perked up, showing interest. "I've heard a lot about you."
The Wizard smiled amusingly. "I believe I'm well known these days."
"What do you need from me?"
"No, today I'm here merely as a messenger. A message for you to be prepared for the upcoming days. A grim reaper is out there prowling for you."
"It is not a surprise anymore," The Knight promptly replied.
"No, you don't understand," his raspy voice echoed in his mind as a reminder. "This grim reaper exist for only you. She is alive only because you are alive. She is your death and your salvation. The same way, you are her death and her salvation. Her life is bound to you the same way your life is bound to her."
The Knight stared at him, his eyebrows scrunched together. In a way, he
understand and didn't understand what he meant at the same time. "Why did she exist only for me?"
"Soon, you will meet her and you will understand on your own."
Such complex puzzles and riddles is his words, yet he accepted it anyway. "Why are you telling me this?"Â
The Wizard stared at the empty space in front of him, perhaps at a space somewhere far away from he is standing.
He once spoke to her, on the brink of her own death. "You look like you're over it."
She opened her mouth to speak, but all that came out is blood.
He continued. "You don't have to bother speaking. I can read your mind."
He swore he could see her smirking and saying. "That's convenient."
"It's a waste to let you die here. Those blood, those conviction. You can be useful for me. You have two options. To let go of your life and die or to form a contract with me and live," The Wizard spoke to her.
The girl smiled at the Wizard standing near her bloodied figure. "I'll form a contract with you. I don't know who you are or what you want. But, I appreciate you reaching out to me in the verge of my death. That's enough for me." She said it with such trust. "Thank you."
He never expected her gratitude at all.
The memories died down and The Wizard returned the Knight's gaze. Â "When the time comes and fate came into play, when you finally meet her, when she finally have to deliver death to you, please don't be too rough on her."
