Ob das alles syntaktisch ganz stimmt? Wahrscheinlich nicht, aber ich habe es mein Bestes gegeben. Aus irgendeinem komischen Grund gibt es fast nur Quellen zur Übersetzung aus dem Althochdeutschen ins Neuhochdeutschen und kaum andersrum, also ich habe an einigen Stellen etwas improvisieren müssen.

Ich sah, dass Leute mit Figuren vom Teppich von Bayeux Memes nachbastelten und ich dachte, das könnte man wohl auch für Spatortschwachsinn verwenden.
Eine ganze Nachmittag später kann ich mit wenig Stolz sagen, dass ich endlich mal mein Studium für etwas gebraucht habe. Ich hoffe es ist klar, welche Szenen hier dargestellt werden. Guten Appetit.
Die Website erlaub leider keine diakritischen Zeichen und ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob das Althochdeutsche ganz stimmt, aber ich hab meine Bücher über deutsche Sprachgeschichte mal außerhalb der Uni verwenden können und ich hatte nicht erwartet, dass das noch mal passieren würde.

It's pretty much as different as Old English is from Modern English. As a fluent Modern German native who has studied Middle High German (Mittelhochdeutsch), I can kind of vaguely glimpse the overall meaning of Old German, but I cannot actually understand the text.
If you're fluent in Modern German, and if you've got a talent for old languages, and a dictionary, you might be able to get through a text. But it does sound like it's going to be a bit torturous!

The Freisinger Paternoster, or at least part of the Old High German text. 9th century.
There are two manuscripts containing the text, both in the State Library in Munich now: Clm 6330 and Clm 14510.
The text is tripartite for every portion of the Lord's prayer. First comes the Latin version, then the Old High German translation, and then an explanation in OHG.
An edition (no translation) can be found via deGruyter (Althochdeutsches Lesebuch, S. 34).

Although my period of interest is Mittelhochdeutsch, this introduction to Althochdeutsch provides an illustrative example of how the language evolved prior to 1050. At first, I thought this text was incomprehensible, but upon hearing it a second time and copying some parts down, I realised that it was quite close to Latin in some respects, and some words such as „fater“ and „gib mir“ were familiar. This again supports my commitment to studying Latin.

Eine Zeitleiste der deutschen Sprache.
Im obigen Bild kann man eine Handschrift auf Mittelhochdeutsch sehen. Heutzutage bin ich begeistert über diese alte Sprache, und ich versuche, seine Grammatik und Syntax zu kennenlernen.
Man sprach Mittelhochdeutsch zwischen 1050-1300, dann sprach man Spätmittelhochdeutsch. In dieser Periode erschien die berühmte Werke, besonders die Dichtungen. Man kennt vielleicht Walther von der Vogelweider, Neidhart von Reuental, und andere Menschen, die „Minnesänger“ heissen.
Ich möchte studieren, wie in dieser Sprache die Verben französischer Stammung eingegangen sind. Es ist eine sehr interessante Frage.
(Achtung: Deutsch ist nicht meine Muttersprache, also sagen Sie mir, ob ich einen Fehler gemacht habe).
