The act of mapping is impossible, Solnit asserts, since “what we call places are stable locations with unstable converging forces.” Things are always changing; we all see the world differently. What is Geography?
This article from Meaghen Brown raises the question: What is Geography? How do we define places on the earth? With a point on a map? Or is it possible to expand our understanding of geography into a more global concept that includes writing the story of a place? Her essay lacks the content that I would like to use to support my own project, but our ideas coincide with one another.
It's good to know someone else out there is thinking along the same lines.
