The Before
After a few conversations and seeing what this place does to people, I've decided to write down everything that I was before the fall. Maybe this can help me retain who I am, who I was. Not be warped into something detached from who I am.
My name is Jay Lauren Jenna. I was born in 2003 to Mary and Jeremy Jenna. I have a younger sister named Lucy who is 15, just getting to the age where she doesn't want to listen to her older sister.
I am was in university for choral techniques. I was a lifeguard and have been swimming for as long as I can remember. I worked at Silver Lake for 2 summers now, and the kids are the best. Helping them find themselves, learn and grow into who they're meant to be is such a beautiful thing.
I remember going to this camp as a kid, and the memories I made here truly formed who I am today. The camaraderie and togetherness really supported me when I needed it.
My girlfriend Tammy is a barista but wants to be so much more than that. She wants to sell her art and get into a production company, and she has the skills for it, just doesn't think her art is good enough. She has the warmest hugs, and whenever the world gets to be too much, she makes the best hot chocolates for me. Somehow, I can never make them quite as good, but I think the love and care that she puts into it can't be replicated. When I lost my grandma, she was there to pick up the pieces, hold me until I could stand on my own.
I hope she has moved on since I left. She deserves to be happy, even if I can't see it. She's made of tough stuff; she will get through it. It's for the best.
My sister is bright and sharp; nothing ever gets past her. I remember when I would try and sneak out and she would just know somehow. She would go and curl up in my bed just so she could make fun of me when I came back. She makes the best apple crisp in the world and despite the annoyances of having a younger sister I love her more than life itself.
I miss her... I miss her laugh and smiles. The way her face lights up when she gets a hard baking recipe to work. The sleepovers in my room before I left for school will always stick with me.
I hope she's doing okay without her big sister. I guess she got her wish...
No, that's not fair of me. She was just having a bad day, and our argument was left on a bad note. She didn't really think that... right?
She deserves better than for me to remember her by that moment. She is smiles in the dark and giggles in a quiet room. She fills my heart up to bursting.
This is me, this is what I am boiled down into a few pages. There is so much more than this that can't be quantified, but these pieces surely will help me remember.
Lucy, Tammy, Mary, Jeremy, Lucy, Tammy, Mary, Jeremy, Lucy, Tammy, Mary, Jeremy, Lucy, Tammy, Mary, Jeremy, Lucy, Tammy, Mary, Jeremy, Lucy, Tammy, Mary, Jeremy, Lucy, Tammy, Mary, Jeremy, Lucy, Tammy, Mary, Jeremy
Tears stain the paper, the names getting messier and messier the more they're repeated
