I really love the relationship between Vin and Alrianne. Because at first Vin’s attitude is basically, “Ugh, another vacuous noblewoman,” (I believe the word Vin used was puffball), which is such an awful yet common attitude towards females that aren’t the main character in the media (sometimes even when they are). And having that sort of attitude is pretty understandable, considering Vin’s history.

But Alrianne is so much MORE than that. Her expertise at rioting hints that she understands noble politics, and — most importantly — hints that she understands PEOPLE in a way Vin definitely does not. And without Allriane’s help, Elend’s army could not have lasted as long as it did.

And although she and Vin never become close friends, never really had the chance to become close friends (that’s the part where you cry), Vin realizes she was WRONG about Alrianne. She doesn’t realize it because Alrianne “proved” herself. Vin realizes she was wrong about Alrianne all along; that she was always skilled, always clever. But Vin jumped to conclusions, her conclusions were wrong, and Vin knows it.
