hi ! I found your blog just now and I'm already teeming with questions. One is - what is the relationship between an alpha and his/her beta ? I feel like this relationship is something we need to expand on. Why do they stick with each other ? What do they feel towards each other ? What exactly can an Alpha do with his/her beta and what are some limits ? I hope you aren't annoyed with all these questions.
hi!
I'm assuming you're coming from a traditionalist-pack perspective so let's talk about it.
to an alpha, a beta is everything. It's their right-hand man, it's the number one person they trust, it's their best friend, it's their most cherished confidant.
If the alpha is the head, the beta is the neck.
In packs where the alpha takes more than one mating partner, the beta's role is especially important. The intimacy that is experienced between the two may not be physical but it is deeply emotional. In the old days, the alpha wasn't expected to have deep relationships with all of his mates, that kind of intimacy was saved for the beta.
As the two most important people in a pact, the alpha and beta were discouraged from marrying so that they could increase their lineages and create a strong pack. Though it is customary for the alpha and beta's firstborns to wed, signifying the bond between their two families as everlasting.
It is not completely unheard of for the alpha and beta of a pack to have some sort of physical relationship before the alpha was expected to begin taking mates. This was often the elephant in the room. The thing everyone knew about, but nobody cared to speak of..
keep the questions coming! :)
