What is Alpha GPC?

Alpha GPC, or alpha glycerylphosphorylcholine, is one form of choline (along with choline CDP). The compound is also referred to as choline alphoscerate, alpha-glycerophosphocholine, α-GPC, glycerol alphoscerate and (2S)-2,3-dihydroxypropyl-2-(trimethylaspartyl)ethyl phosphate. This form of choline occurs physiologically in the human body. It stands out for its excellent solubility in water. Unlike choline itself,lpha GPC penetrates the blood-brain barrier. And therefore it can be a carrier of choline to the central nervous system - the molecule of this compound contains more than 40% choline. The compound breaks down into choline and glycerophosphate. Both of these compounds are excellent at strengthening cell membranes and ensuring their integrity. In addition, choline is used in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

Application of Alpha GPC
