i know this has nothing to do with anything, but if it helps, Hefzy sees him as a flawed yet deeply loved daddy. Quite literally. She trusts him because he allowed her to see that he wasn't perfect. And that's what made her adore him so blindly.
He is very much a flawed human being whose intentions are 90% pure. My issue with the dark phoenix adaptations is that his friends always turn on him once they find out he tried to help Jean. And when it turns out Jean can’t control her alien powers, they blame him and turn on him despite him trying to explain what Jean was going through as a child. He chose to put the lives of many over the life of one. It’s one of those lose-lose situations he was put in and you’d think Erik of all people would be able to understand, but he’s generally fishing for any reason to start a war against homo sapiens. It’s just... that whole arc always bugs me because they gloss over stuff from the comics and always make Charles out to be a horrible person. He’s not, but he IS flawed. And any friends who would abandon you after you break once after shouldering all of THEIR burdens are not really your friends. Erik of all people should have been more understanding in both adaptions but instead we get selfish Erik who’s just happy he finally has the excuse needed to get his war.
