The Long Road Home
A leather bound tome sits under a tree outside the Exarch's garrison; feathers from a large black bird and some arrowheads litter the area around it. The book is open, scratchy words still drying on the pages and the quill discarded next to it. You look around for signs of it's owner and see none, but you know they'll be back soon. However, curiousity gets the best of you and you can't help but take a peek... "The transition back into the Order has been more stressful than I had anticipated. Not because of my companions or my superiors, but I feel so...restless. After spending so many months in the Spires of Arak and then preparing to make landfall in Tanaan, I feel useless sitting here with nothing to do but journal and prepare to go back to Tanaan. I have plans to meet with the Exarch soon to brief her on the situation before we all go, but I do not wish to become lazy in the meantime. Still...I cannot say I have not missed it. When Naielle suggested I join Te'Amun, I balked and protested, but as always she knew best. I was welcomed with honor and respect and I worked well with them to accomplish much for our people. I felt the same camaraderie within their ranks of shamans, vindicators, and priests that I did with my own scouts and sharpshooters. I admit, I did not want to leave their ranks to assist the outcasts of the Arrakoa, but I did not voice it. I was supposed to meet a partner in Gorgrond, but he went missing soon before we were to depart. I bargained with Naielle to send me to the Spires, as I had worked with the Arrakoa in the past. I revere them greatly, as I do the broken of our own people. I had been there for a few weeks, studying and working with their kaliri and dread ravens when I received new orders from the Exarch to travel to the Iron Docks. The missive was vague, as all Rangari instructions are, but I packed and left as soon as I got it. The Arrakoa graciously allowed me to travel their on one of their ravens, though it still took several days. Once there, I was fully briefed by the other Rangari and set to work. We watched and observed the Iron Horde for a few days before the champions of the Alliance and Horde, including many of Te'Amun's, arrived and we made our move. An orcish shipbuilder was converted and went on to help construct ships for a naval assault on Tanaan Jungle, which had been corrupted and twisted with vile fel magic. I was told what I needed to know and put on a ship and told what and who to kill. I prefer it that way honestly. I have no problem leading my team of rangers, but when it comes to the bigger things, I simply don't need to know nor do I want to. However, I digress. The assault went as smoothly as one could hope on our side and we began building outposts. I hope they're still there when we return, but I do not have much faith. I saw for myself the destruction Gul'dan caused. Rivers of fel, demons, damned Sargerei and some twisted sort of fel Orcs. There is much work to be done, but we will achieve victory for our people and for the Alliance. We have no other choice." You finish reading the entry and look up upon hearing a kaliri in the trees. You set the book back down and leave before the owner returns.
