hey it’s me again. i’d like to know how on earth do u find the motivation to finish a fic? as a writer myself i tend to find it so long winded sometimes and i’ve been reading your work and they’re all fantastic i’m obsessed oops
omg thank u so much ily!! honestly the burn out and tediousness of writing gets a lot of us, me included 👊🏻😔 so i feel u on that struggle
tbh my biggest advice for this is to just write what you feel like writing when you feel like writing it. i never understood the mindset of forcing yourself to write something you no longer want to write. i just jump around with my fics tbh! if i feel like writing something, i just write that. and then if the next hour i wanna write something else, i switch over! like “the young wolf” took me ages to finish bc i didn’t have motivation for it for some of the months i spent on it. like i had written 4k words in august for it and then didn’t touch it again for a while. and during november i was so motivated to write it that i got the word count up to 17.5k words before i lost motivation again. and then i didn’t write for a while but when i got motivated again, i finished it and posted it!
also what i’ve noticed for myself is that if i get really close to finishing a fic, it motivates me more to finish it. had the young wolf still been under 10k words it def would not have motivated me. but when i looked at it and realized i only had a few more thousand words to write, it really motivated me to just finish it so i could share it with everyone! i hope that makes sense akdjskdhskfj
but yeah my advice for that would be to just write what you feel like writing. don’t force yourself to finish something just bc you already started it—its just gonna make u hate it later on and hate what you actually wrote for it. if you start a fic and decide u wanna actually write a diff fic, switch over and write that one instead! it might take u longer to finish something that way, but you’ll be much more at ease and relaxed and enjoy yourself more c:
