Still, I can't help but write. I am made aware of the reality of the situation. These thoughts, no matter how important, could be my last. The evidence seems to crash down like some intense weight all at once. These words, the ones that have come so easily before are now putting up such a struggle that I don't even notice that the rain has stopped completely. My eyes are fixated on my hands as I am perplexed by how meaningless these words could potentially be. I am so engrossed that I don't even hear the woman when she comes to tell me the worst is over. The dog is barking, but I can't pull my focus towards anything else. I stop for a moment and suddenly I can't breathe.
