"i don't want to." 

she comes to a standstill, puff of air blown past the frown tugging at her lips, up at her fringe. "please, seojun?" her frown deepens an inch and then some, equal parts unamused and chagrined that she's resorted to pleading in the middle of fucking lotte world, fingers clutching at the loose end of his sleeve with the kind of desperation that can only be described as clean-cut objection. everything continues to move around them, blurry motions of the passing of time, and resounding laughter that only twists a knot in jieun's chest when she spares a glance at the looming sign over seojun's head. then shuts her eyes.

"can't you just go in by yourself?" she knows it's a fruitless suggestion; she can tell by the way seojun stands his ground, by the despicable bounce in his step that had manifested the closer they got to the haunted house as he dragged her across the park. the smirk on his lips is all the more telling, the menacing neon lights behind him a mockery of her hidden phobia as she finally relents with a sigh.

what comes first, the chicken or the egg?

what comes first, sua’s irritable nature or seojun’s greasy comments?

today’s affront comes in the form of a seemingly harmless remark that sua might have enjoyed if it’d come from literally anyone else. of course she’s a princess. his little princess? not so much.

sua rolls her eyes at the floor. vaguely, in the back of her mind, she recalls her mother’s voice. ‘if you don’t stop rolling your eyes like that, they’re going to get stuck like that forever.’ while she’s never actually verified the medical accuracy of that statement, sua almost hopes her eyes get stuck to save her the energy of having to roll her eyes all the damn time. 

it’s not the first time seojun’s said something like this (and it most likely won’t be the last) but she’s feeling particularly charitable today. how much could it really hurt to indulge his whims, even if only for a moment?

when she turns her head and looks up at the other, she flashes a sweet grin at him. “hm? what is it, oppa?” she coos prettily, her voice uncharacteristically saccharine. there’s an eight month difference between them, and while she’s not above using the ‘i’m younger than you!’ card to get out of doing things, she never thought she’d actually call seojun ‘oppa.’ resting her chin between her hands, her eyelashes flutter at him in an imitation of the cutesy actions that seojun seems to like so much. beneath a winsome smile, her jaw clenches.

   ☀ ⤑ this particular personification of death enjoys christmas as much as the living. 

mostly it’s for irony’s sake, as the very thought of death himself thriving in the holiday festivities that celebrated the birth of the christian god would seem ridiculous, not to mention unfathomable. but really, the tradition was just an excuse for him to find a few laughs, and today’s amusements come in the form of giving his subordinates the most embarassing presents he could find and anticipating their reactions come christmas morning. 

his feet take him to a high-end clothing store, and his amber hues reflect oncoming mischief as he spies the vast underwear selection. the professor easily slides into the men’s rack, poring through the different styles like they were patient files in his office, from which he picks three scantily designed pairs in the brightest neon colors and  most shocking patterns. he looks at the line-up like his choice was a life and death situation.
