when allie became of age to join the rest of her suburb's children in school, it was clear that she was well liked by teachers and peers alike. always smiling, she always just wanted to make someone's day better. while some were made popular amongst their peers for material reasons, allie was always known for being a genuinely good person.
when allie was accepted into the university of florida's early education program, she had some reservations at first. and yet, her family and friends still encouraged her to go. her life needed to be bigger, and she'd always have a home to come back to. and yet, as scared as she was -- she knew too that it was the best possible thing for her.
the next four years were a blur. she made new friends, dated and made more strides than she could have ever expected. everything changed, however, when she met her ex-boyfriend her senior year. they were together on and off for the rest of the year and beyond -- and despite what allie had heard about him, she truly believed people didn't know him like she did. they broke up a couple of times, and he'd show up at her door with flowers. sometimes, that was all it took. she was just a girl in love, after all.
when they finally decide to combine their residences, her ex convinces her to relocate her life again from gainesville to palmview grove, because was where he grew up. it took some adjustment, but somewhere along the way -- she began to really like her life there. soon after her move, she was offered a position at coastal cove academy teaching first grade, and has been there for nearly five years now.
however, the record scratch went off in her mind when allie came home after a half-day at school. clothing that wasn't hers on the floor, and a random girl in the very bed she shared with the man she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with. he rolled through all the usual lines: that she didn't mean anything and you're the only girl for me. not enough flowers in the world could fix this now.
now twenty-six, allie soon found her own place with a roommate in a complex she much preferred over her current one if she was honest with herself ( she was never going to let a man make choices for her or break her spirit ever again ) -- and for some reason, it finally started to feel like she had turned a new page.
ever since then, she's been thriving. for the first time, she finally feels like she's living for herself. since then, she feels even more capable of being a better teacher, a better daughter, a better friend. even the selfless can learn that there are times to be selfish, no matter how wrong it feels. however, despite what most might have expected -- her next move had begun by staying in palmview grove.
within the past two years, allie's parents have moved to palmview grove to not only be near her, but so allie and her father can take care of her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer when allie was twenty-five. alongside her father, who has taken a position at the local hospital, allie coordinates with her medical team to make sure that she's cared for to the best of their ability.
and yet, despite everything she's been through, allie mackie has never stopped smiling. some say she's just faking it -- but she's been authentic all the while. she finds it much easier to be kind than cruel, and it brings her joy to make other people happy. despite learning how cruel and manipulative people can be, they can go be miserable somewhere else. she's better off being happy.
