I used to get lost in daydreams about someone, imagining them as this perfect version only I could see. I built up stories in my head about who they were, projecting hopes and feelings that weren’t really there.

I need to apologise to myself for giving this person too many chances.

The problem was me. They already showed me their true colours, but I was too nice.

At a point, with too many chances given it's not their fault anymore.

I allowed myself to keep the door open to disrespect.

You are messy and imperfect and you make mistakes. You walk around with question marks in your eyes on days like today, looking for answers in someone else. But the answers are already inside of you.

Yes, you are messy -- but there's a method to your madness, and that is a love so large it was never meant to be drawn within the lines. Yes, you are imperfect -- but your quirks and cracks are the things that make you so astoundingly, breathtakingly you.

Yes, you make mistakes -- but there is something spectacular in the way you don't let it take you down; you get back up every time you fall, you come back wiser for it.

And if being a strong yet soft human with a hopeful heart isn't worth being unapologetic about -- then I don't know what is.
