So after waking up at 6 this morning and listening to nothing else but She’s Kinda Hot for the entire day, I finally have put together a list to describe how I feel about it:

I didn’t know what to expect, but it sure as hell wasn’t this.

Okay, first the beat is ridiculous and I’m obsessed. I didn’t know they wrote this with Madden Brothers when I first listened to the song but it immediately reminded me of Good Charlotte / Greetings from California and I loved that.

Basically all of the side comments made by Ashton (and everyone else. I still can’t quite make out some of the voices I’m hearing)

Okay so, basically the entire thing.

(If the rest of the cd is anything like this I will lose my freaking mind.)

I love that it’s not the fuckboy anthem the title alludes to (although, I admittedly don’t understand the first verse’s relevance to the rest of the song...)

I’m confused as to why they chose to call it She’s Kinda Hot when “New Broken Scene” would have been a way cooler and more appropriate title. Maybe that means it’s the album title?!

I love the message that it sends. That the song touches on topics like mental illness and failing to meet traditional social expectations. That they sing about how it’s not a bad thing to not fit in in the traditional way and that rebellion and banding together with other people that don’t fit in will end up in you feeling better about yourself. That we’re all going to be okay, even when people like our loved ones, our friends and our family are telling us that what we are doing is wrong or unacceptable.
