Jacob is such a fascinating villain because on one hand, he does all these unnerving and terrifying things in the background throughout the demo, building suspense and suspicion, but then he’s also so, so genuinely in love with the player, it’s hard not to be at least a little endeared by it.
Just before this scene, Jacob calls the player “sunshine” as they fall into slumber, and considering that sunrise is supposed to be spelled as one singular word, he literally refers to the main character here. “Watch the sun rise” as in watch the player wake up.
He sees the player as the sun itself and can’t help but say it to their face 😭 a romantic down to the bone.
