Miracle Moment:
Meltdown. I’m thinking, Oh, ****! I step outside. Power is down. I internet to find a two hours estimation. Fun. My son wants his nightlight and he wants it NOW. I find his reading tablet and turn it on for light only upsetting him more. Thankfully, for Christmas, his sister gave him a wonderful dry-erase board on an easel. I take the light from the device and aim it at the board erasing his schedule, news topics, date, weather, etc. After showing him the website, I write:
Power Outage:
• No street lights • No lights on houses • No lights in houses
The people who work for the city are working to restore the light.
DON’T BE WORRIED.
He gets still. Very still. Then he reads: DON’T BE WORRIED.

Instantly, the nightlight appears calming his fear.
