He is a boring performer. It’s just facts if you’re judging by pop standards. According to me he doesn’t have to change costumes a dozen times or dance around (I would like a little banter—he’s good at it actually if he can relax) because I’m expecting to be in the presence of one of my favorite voices and to let my ears bask in the sound of it. I might sneak a peek at Zayn too—he’s easy on the ears and the eyes.

Me too on a whole damn song. As a fandom our needs are simple.

If like me after becomjng a fan you watched every 1d performance with him in it, you’d know that Zayn almost never makes eye contact with the camera or audience. It’s a real weakness of his live performances. By my reckoning he looked up once, but he grooved a little to the music and seemed comfortable on stage, and the voice is there. I’m so excited for this era and where he seems to be going musically. This won’t be his best album, I predict. That’s still in the future as he finds his authentic musical self.

He really does. Not like 1d Zayn, but like a grown man who has earned the rasp in his voice. It’s beautiful and vulnerable and I love it.
