Genuinely having a fit so I'm gonna rant!
There is no evidence Jade Castrinos was/is a drug addict!
Everyone knows the internet is a lying liar who lies but it still pisses me off when people just ... believe shit?
Context: there's a video on the hellscape that is TikTok that's just an upload of the song Home by Edward Sharpe and the magnetic zeros preforming at the tiny desk.

5:00 min mark to 10:00 min mark
In this video Jade is dancing kinda erratically and she's smiling and touching her face alot. She's also wearing clothing that alot of people associate with addicts (baggy, a rasta hat, ect).
This performance was uploaded to TikTok and the comments are monotonous.
"she's off her head, she's a junkie, he can't even look at her, he looks so sad, this ended her career, this is why they kicked her out"
THIS IS A SONG ABOUT MELANCHOLY LOVE. OF COURSE THERES GONNA BE CONFLICTING EMOTIONAL DISPLAYS. ART PEOPLE.
I've dug as hard as I can into both these people's life, from what I can find and PLEASE if you have sources to the contrary, share them, she wasn't an addict(some sources from Alex state she might have had sobriety challenges before the band formed), and there is no evidence she was using when this song released however Alex has gone on record as struggling with drugs, and not a sing commenter brought this up.
Secondly Jade and Alex weren't dating in this performance! Comments saying how "hard he's trying to love her 🥺" are wrong! They dated, briefly, the summer before this was recorded but they're professionals, they worked together after the fact.
FINALLY, the comments saying her addiction is why she was kicked are also lies! Again if you have contradicting sources please share, but from what I gathered, Jade states she was fired after a group vote and Alex states she quit after being asked to not tour for 1 cycle. That's it. Both seem to be very private people, with Jade having no social media, and both have obviously moved on.
FINALLY FINALLY jade still has a career! She's just very offline but she still tours, drugs didn't ruin her life, she seems to be doing fine.
This might sound like I'm trying to exonerate her of the "sin" of being an addict, but frankly I couldn't care if she was using 24/7, it's not my business and not an issue I'm morally hung up on. I'm just pissed that this a trend where people see someone having fun and jump to diagnose them. Also, they where indie hippies! This was their vibe, they probably did smoke, but that's also just low-key how hippies dance and how 2000s indie artists dressed.
Tl;Dr: For the love of God's don't jump to the worst case scenario and make up tragedies about real-life people, that's weird!
