Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Seychelles, global attention has once again turned to Jonathan, the world's oldest living land animal. Although social media claimed that PM Modi met Jonathan, the claim is incorrect. The Prime Minister visited Aldabra giant tortoises at the Seychelles National Botanical Garden, while Jonathan lives on the island of Saint Helena. Believed to have been born around 1832, Jonathan is approximately 194 years old and holds the Guinness World Record as the oldest living land animal. Over his remarkable lifetime, he has witnessed major historical events, including the Industrial Revolution, two World Wars, India's independence, and the rise of the digital age. Despite his advanced age, Jonathan continues to live under special care at Plantation House in Saint Helena, making him one of the world's most extraordinary living creatures.
