1.5 oz gin, 0.75 oz Lillet Blanc, 0.75 oz Green Chartreuse, 1 barspoon St. Germain, 1 dash orange bitters, stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with orange twist
According to the PDT cocktail book, this is named after the mining engineer who first proposed building a tunnel under the English Channel (in 1802!)
This was a great fit for our bottle of CapRock gin, distilled in Hotchkiss, Colorado. CapRock gin has a floral taste and was a great match for the herbal flavor of the chartreuse. All the flavors combined perfectly for a well-balanced, complex taste. BG and I both approve!
