(WHOA your lore is extensive. So sorry if you've answered these already ^^;) How dangerous is Soul Smoking? What consequences can holding in a soul longer than you should has? Could Beastclan souls in objects grant some abilities, like dragon souls?
NICE I love these questions. Hereās my copy-paste blurb on Soul Smoking:
The occupation of Soul Smoking is a quite unusual one itself: the dragon lights an Ancestral Incense, and inhales its smoke where a soul is present. The soul is inhaled into the Soul Smokerās body, and then exhaled into a glass sphere, creating a Wisp or Starsweeper. Recently, Baldwin has discovered a way of alchemizing wisps in large quantities, by fragmenting a soul and using the parts - usually mute or impaired in some way - mostly as decorative familiars. However, when an entire soul is used, the Wisp or Starsweeper may be used to predict, protect, or attract some aspect. Different Soul Smokers specialize in differently abled souls. Dragon souls are most potent, each flight producing a differently abled wisp, though some Soul Smokers object to the use of dragon souls. Beastclan souls are most often used.
Soul Smoking is not unusually unsafe in the usual method of Soul Smoking - breathe in, breathe into an orb - besides the obvious damage over time to lungs that comes with all forms of smoking, and sometimes some emotional distress.
Ex, however, is known for taking it to the extreme. A self-appointed minor hero, he saves trapped souls from the Starwood Strand by smoking in dozens of them at once, and then bearing them to the edge of Arcane territory to be released. This causes emotional, mental, and physical distress, and it is only by sheer determination (and, letās be honest, a little bit of a desire for martyrism) that he can continue doing it. It is taking a toll on his body, though, leaving him weak and extremely vulnerable to attack. Not to mention that some souls like to practice terrified self-preservation by sticking some of themselves in his mind, so heās not always sure which memories are entirely his.
Beastclan souls are the most often used because theyāre viewed as inexpensive and morally less objectionable by buyers. (This is from dragons who make a living on death, so some callousness is to be expected.) Beastclan wisps are often less powerful in terms of elemental ability, though Maren souls are particularly valuable for dragons wishing to live underwater.
ah shit it's not how I do it OK something about me, ok, aah, random thing: me & one of my friends were on a trip together and we ended up talking about RA... in spanish. Which was hilarious because we didn't know the spanish term for "ranger" and thus inveted our own by literally translating "hraniÄĆ”Å" (the czech term) into spanish, which ended up being "borderador". I study on a bilingual czech-spanish school so I sometimes do silly stuff like this :"D
