As he walked, Tony found himself unconsciously humming, Dentist! from The Little Shop of Horrors: “You'll be a dentist, you have a talent for causin' things pain, son, be a dentist, people will pay you to be inhumane.” He had a knife in each hand, but they didn’t feel quite right. In fact, it was a little alarming how many people in town had knives and were to hand them out. Tony wasn’t a fighter. He played sports here and there growing up, but with the politics between growing up trans and playing team sports, it had always been more trouble that it was worth. He had, however, gotten into robot fighting and robot soccer, engineering little bots ready to deliver a sucker punch. But that wasn’t going to help him much now.
If he’d had time to prepare for this, he’d have made a few homemade bombs. He was, after all, very good at making things blow up. But this was an improvisation sort of night, so he supposed winging it was the name of the game. As he approached the dentist’s office, he saw the guards with their arrows and knives--no guns, damn it, which would be machines he could dismantle--but everyone had cellphones, right? Using his technological manipulation, he made all the guards’ phones start ringing and vibrating at the same time. Then he tugged, and the phones lurched to the sides, pulling the pockets of their owners away from the entrance. He bit back a laugh as the guards reacted, trying to figure out what was happening. The confusion wouldn’t last long, but it was enough to slip past them and into the dentist’s office.
Inside the office was like something straight out of a horror movie. The vampire strapped down, her fangs being ripped out. “Wow, you’re going to get a really bad score on Yelp,” he said, and again using his magic, pulled the medical instruments from the hands of the hunters, making them turn on their owners. At the same moment, all the other medical instruments all came to life as well, buzzing and whirring and spinning around the room, chasing the hunters away from the dental table. With this distraction underway, Tony hurried over and untied Aaliyah. “Hey, let’s get you out of here before--ouch.” He had just gotten the ropes off when an arrow came from seemingly nowhere and pierced his side. The guards had arrived back on the scene.
