100 Days of Booklr | Day 10
Canāt believe Iāve been doing this for 10 days! It feels like itās been a lot shorter than that if Iām being honest! Before I know it Iāll have finished my 100 days! Truly crazy
Today I sat down and read Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire and it was a pretty good book. Itās about these kids who have been to fantasy worlds like Wonderland or Narnia and this school thatās set up for them in the real world that helps them readjust to the normal world. What was the best part to me was how diverse this book was. The main character right up front says sheās asexual, and being asexual myself it was great seeing an ace main character. This character also has a crush on a transgender boy and her roommate is Japanese. I love seeing a diverse group of characters so this really helped me like the book. But I was a little disappointed in the book. I thought the concept was really imaginative and cool but unfortunately we didnāt get as much of that as I would have liked. Pretty much right away weāre introduced to a murder mystery that took up most of the plot, which I wasnāt expecting at all. So I think if I knew going in about the murder mystery I would have a different opinion. Also the book was too short, under 200 pages, and I felt it could have developed the story farther. As a whole I would rate this book a 3.5, a good book but could still really use some improvements.
I think next Iām going to finally pick up The Foxhole Court. Iāve had the first book since my best friend got it for me for Christmas and I think Iām actually going to pick it up next. Everyone who has picked this up loves it and Iāve often heard it compared to The Raven Boys. And from what Iāve heard it has a really cool fantasy sport. So once I finish The Foxhole Court Iāll post a review!
