it’d been a long wait at the infirmary, longer than usual, though she knew that meant there were more pressing issues to be taken care of. she waited her turn, shifting around in the small bed, though it was nigh impossible with the soreness in her back. even reading was difficult to focus on as she found herself re-reading the same page over a couple of times to absorb the story. even though it wasn’t much of a distraction, it was something, eyes burning from exhaustion but simply unable to fall asleep until samson was freed up. that was the downside of only having one healer really capable of working with her – it meant that whenever the infirmary was packed, that meant a longer wait than for most.
she’s not surprised when the curtain pulls back to reveal a familiar head of red hair, and it’s the first time she’s smiled all evening. by hour two they’d figured she’d waited long enough, sending aisling in to at the very least let her get some rest until things had calmed down. and while it didn’t mean a solution to her problems, it was something, and aisling’s smile in greeting is the first pinch of relief she’s felt in a few days now. “ long night? ” the sour expression she’d been wearing minutes before dissolves nearly instantly, and she readjusts herself, sucking in a breath at the pang it sends down her back. “ ‘m glad i got you again, at the very least. ” @aislingeu
