Airsoft doesn’t have a solid set of rules like paintball does. Most new players’ mindsets goes as far as “ok I got the gear, now give me something to shoot.” The ability to play comes first, the choice of gameplay is secondary. There’s great potential and a great freedom in hosting games because there are no limits besides your own imagination. What do you want to do? If there’s something you’d like to try out, host a game! Or if you don’t feel up to it, ask a local game host to assist you! With new ideas airsoft can continue to evolve and grow in popularity. Hey, it’s only -17 Celsius outside and it’s getting warmer. I called the police as we always do before hosting games they said, “have fun, let’s hope it doesn’t get too cold!”. I’ve placed 6 transparent packages on the field, each one filled medical equipment and clues. The players’ mission, should they choose to accept it, is to build a complete picture over one Doctor’s area of operation and his mission. A note supplied during the briefing reads: “Hello Doctor ______, In July 2015 you travelled between ______ county and ______ county, and you’ve been seen hanging out with ______. We don’t like this so you better kill her for our amusement. We’ve scheduled a meeting for you with her at ______ in room ______. You have the choice of killing her with ______ or ______. We’ve marked your tools of choice with numbers 1 and 2 in each respective bag because you’re known to be absent-minded and cranky when you don’t get idiot-proof instructions. Just to be sure please answer these questions. Who are you? (bag with identification) Between which counties did you travel in July 2015? (bag with receipts) Who is your target? (bag with victim’s name) Where are you supposed to meet? (bag with key to hotel room) What tools can you use to eliminate her?“ (2 bags with one murder weapon each)” The players can complete this mission for a total of 6 points. Whoever gets the most correct answers gets to feel good about themselves. I haven’t decided if I want to make this a primary mission or a side quest.

A new interesting gamemode in this video at 8:15: Deadrag Normal team deathmatch with a twist Players who get hit join the Deadrag team at a new spawnpoint. They play marked with deadrags and their mission is to eliminate the two other teams. Infinite respawns. The last surviving player wins! This is why you don’t skip airsoft day, you’ll miss out on braggning rights on all the new cool gameplay.

#AirsoftRules - Find the Mortars I bought these bowling pins on sale along with this blue carrying contraption. The pins can symbolize missiles or mortars. If they don’t look MilSim enough you can build your own imitation mortars and case using this picture as reference. Team One: start with the carrying case and one pin so everyone knows what they’re looking for. Objective: Gather all mortars and once all are collected, bring them to an extraction point. Team Two: start with one pin as well. Objective: stop Team One from collecting all pins. Team Two have to decide if they want to spread out and protect individual pins/missiles or if they want to gather them together and protect them at one spot. Hiding the pins/mortars would be against the rules, unless the field is small enough. Balancing gameplay: Set a time-limit to keep the teams moving. A map could be supplied to either of both teams pinpointing the location of some of the pins. Mortars could be equipped with lights to make them easier to spot. If Team One wins, set them on defending the mortars in round two with no re-spawns. If Team Two wins, task them to gather pins in round two. Add a third team to make the game more interesting...

Game 1: Find the bomb & bring it to extraction. A bomb is placed between two teams. The team that manages to find  the bomb and transport it to the extraction point gets to plant it in the second part of the game. 1 hour time limit 2 medics per team 2 revives allowed, no respawns Hit players can yell “Medic Red/Blue!”. After 5 minutes without revive the player is eliminated. Camping on hit players is forbidden Result: Team Red won. - Lunch break! - Game 2: Plant the Bomb The Red team must plant the bomb in one of two places on the map. Blue team starts between the two drop points and must spread out to cover both drop points. Good radio communication is a big help. 1 hour time limit 2 medics per team 2 revives allowed, first hit anyone can revive, second time a medic is needed Result: Team Red won. With less than 10 minutes left I managed to arm the bomb. We managed to keep the Blue team off for 5 minutes until the bomb blew up. This was a nice setup since the team that got the bomb also got to arm it so the gameplay changed based on the team’s performance which makes it very dynamic.
