Spirit Airlines is based in Dania Beach, Florida, and has its origins as the Clippert Trucking Company, founded in 1964. It transitioned to become Charter One Airlines in 1983, providing vacation packages to destinations such as Las Vegas and the Bahamas. By 1992, the airline adopted the name Spirit Airlines and began offering scheduled flights between Detroit and Atlantic City. Since then, Spirit has significantly expanded its route network, emerging as one of North America's leading ultra-low-cost carriers.

One of Spirit Airlines' notable liveries was the "Silver Pixel" design, introduced in 2002. This livery featured a sophisticated, high-tech look with a silver and black pixel pattern on the fuselage. The design included twenty-one "bricks" – twenty in dark colors and one in red, arranged in a step-like fashion from bottom to top, giving the aircraft a sleek and modern appearance. Despite its elegance, this livery was short-lived and was replaced in 2007. The "Silver Pixel" design was deemed too costly and did not effectively represent Spirit's budget-friendly brand. The subsequent livery, known as "Birthday Cake", lasted for seven years, but that's a story for another time.
