ā¦First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friendās eye.
Matthew 7:5
Reflecting on yesterdayās sermonā¦The main thing that stuck out to me was the fact to aim higher.Ā To illustrate, think of a high jumper trying to get over a bar. Depending on your relationship with Him, you can raise the bar on your own and settle for more, or you remove it completely because you donāt believe there is a bar.Ā No matter how you look at it, the only way to get overĀ the bar is through Jesus.
PK said,Ā āJesus in His grace lifts us over the bar.āĀ What does this mean exactly?Ā It means that through Jesusās sacrifice on the cross and our belief in Him, He will lift us over the bar for a life thatās filled with so much joy we canāt even fathom.Ā For some of us, this is difficult to understand because weāve never fully given ourselves away to Christ.Ā However, no matter what, each and every one of us can be redeemed through Christ Jesus.
Thereās one catch though.Ā In order to get over the bar and eventually help others how to get over the bar, we have to make sure that all of our own issues are addressed.Ā For me, my main issue is my anger.Ā I often times lash out in anger or lose my temper when I know Iām so much better than that.Ā And let me clear the air now, I never physically hurt anyone.Ā Itās all through my words, and thatās just as painful to the ones I love.Ā So, my #aimhighergoal is to calm myself and reset anytime I feel anger coming.Ā One trick that Iāve heard from #MelRobbins is to use the #5secondrule.Ā This basically states to count to 5 anytime I feel my issue coming along.Ā It obviously goes much deeper than that but at least you get the point.
So, to wrap things up.Ā Strive to aim higher.Ā Where in your life can you aim higher?Ā Read more books?Ā Study more?Ā Spend more quality time with your family?Ā Calm yourself when youāre feeling angry?Ā Whatever it is, #aimhigher.Ā Ā
Join me in this adventure of aiming higher and let me know what you plan to work on.Ā As always, Iād love to connect and learn more about you.
