Vijay Goel takes stock of preparations for forthcoming BRICS U-17 Football Tournament
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge) Vijay Goel today visited Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, in South Goa to take stock of the preparations for the forthcoming BRICS U-17 Football Tournament.
Most of the matches of this tournament will be held at Bambolim Stadium near here, while Fatorda Stadium would be venue for the finals and the closing ceremony.
In his visit to Fatorda Stadium, Goel interacted with Goa Minister of Sports Ramesh Tawadkar, representatives of Sports Authority of Goa and the BRICS Organising Committee to get a perspective on the preparations underway for the tournament and the closing ceremony.
Goel also interacted with media and stated that Goa was an emerging destination for sporting events and expressed happiness about the well-maintained sports infrastructure. Tawadkar said the re-look at the various facets of sports was underway and an endeavour was being made to get all stakeholders, including the Sports Federations and coaches on a common platform through a seminar planned in the near future.UNI AKM SS SB BD2125
