Ayala, having been caught quite off guard by being abruptly picked up by Saburo, proceeded to cling to him and squeak dramatically. Technically speaking; she was anxious now. Not so much because she had been picked up; but because she knew that the ground was hard and she absolutely did NOT want to be dropped. Call it a sort of instinctive, childish fear. She didn’t punch Saburo, though.

  Ayala instinctively tensed at the mention of what she was. This probably was not the safest of places to be having such a discussion. They were in a small tavern, and despite there being only a handful of people, there were still good chances of someone overhearing their talk. As such, she tentatively placed her spoon into the bowl of stew that she had purchased; and she glanced at the man.

Professor Juniper contacted me some months ago with a job opportunity that I find myself unable to turn down. An ancient temple of sorts has been discovered in a far corner of Unova, and multiple sightings of strange Pokemon have been reported in that area. Some of Juniper’s colleagues have come to suspect that these unusual Pokemon are, in fact, Variants of traditional species. If this is true, then it would be the first discovery of Pokemon Variation outside of Alola. The entire basis of my job revolves around Pokemon Variation.

Triggering a shift in type and appearance under controlled circumstances is one thing. I’ve perfected a method in one way or another, but we cannot confirm if its entirely foolproof until I’ve produced more variants. Given the circumstances, you can understand why it would be impossible for me to ignore this opportunity, right? I’ve already made arrangements for my ranch to be looked after. Naturally any sales will be put to a complete stop until I can get back. I’m bringing a handful of Pokemon with me; Jack and Frost. Nightmare is likely to try and follow.

But I’ll get to the point. I realize this letter is a bit long. Juniper suggested that I try to bring someone along with me to share the experience with and help me document what I manage to find. You were the first person that came to mind. Its alright if you would prefer to stay home, as we’re looking to be gone for roughly a month at the least. I leave on Sunday. If you would like to come along with me, then come to my house on Saturday. I can cover the cost of travel its not like money is an issue with me.

I’m currently to lazy to go in and do the shading and whatnot (I’m running on like, 3 hours of sleep and am likely to just go back to sleep); but this is my example of what I anticipate a Fairy type Charmander might look like.
