I am like a small creature swallowed whole by a monster
βYouβve never been scared before have you Agatha?β Teen said and you thought how stupid that idea sounded. You were even tempted to scold him but Agatha stopped her movement on your leg under the table.
You hadnβt expected her to answer honestly, like at all.
βI have been scared out of my skin before Billy. When you love someone as much as I love my wife. There is always a fearβ¦β She says not meeting anyone's gaze.
βBut is that whyβ¦sheβs bound..a ..familiar..β
Rio and Agatha both bristled, and you saw that neither wanted to say anything about the bond. It felt insanely intimate, because it was just that. And not at all like something they have ever talked about with anyone else. It didnβt matter if they were a witch or not. Both of their backs went rimrod straight. It got fucking cold in the house. Billy looked at you as if begging for help out of what he opened.
βThat isβ¦β You started putting your fork down, instantly losing your appetite.
βNone of your business,β Agatha says so low in her vocal cords it almost is a growl.
βNot something you get to ask.β Rio pulls her head to the right, her jaw tight as she grips her glass; you saw her knuckles turn white. Not that Aggie was doing better her teeth grinding together.
βThat is a little personal for dinner conversation. Itβs ok that you ask-β
βNo it isnβt.β Agatha interjects looking at you in warning. It was common knowledge there were things you didnβt ask witches. It was rude, and you didnβt do it. It wasnβt that your bond was taboo necessarily but it was intimate. And any witch worth their salt would be scared to ask.
βBilly I get your curiosity because familiar bonds are super rare-β Before you can continue, Agatha slams her hand down on the dinner table and you stop. Not flinching at her display but Rio looks ready to blow as well. Agatha grabs her stake knife and points it at Billy.
You werenβt wrong, this bond magic was incredibly rare. You were trying to make the moment educational and not personal. But your witch was having none of it.The blade glinted in the light and all eyes fell to it. Agatha opened her mouth to speak and the room hung on her every word.
βI will teach you magic Billy Maximoff. I will help you hone and master your skills. Iβll guide you and Iβll let you study in my home under my roof with my family. They will even assist you. But I told you the second you met my witch, my wife, my familiar, my everythingβ¦ That you werenβt to ask questions about her. I have said it twice. Billy, I mean what I say when I say it and I wonβt say this a third time. Sheβs off limits to you. Sheβs sweet and kind and she lights up every room. Sheβs not yours. Sheβs not your mother sheβs not your friend. She does not. Belong. To. You.β
Billy gulped as she got closer with the knife. You knew this moment could not be interrupted. Rio looked over at you making sure you didnβt move from your spot to defend the boy. Because sheβd tackle you and make sure Agatha could finish her tirade. Rio was ready to pick up her own knife if need be. But Agatha was the head of the family. She made the rules and it was important that she do this.
Agatha scooted her chair closer to Billy, making him very aware of the knife near his throat. She was centimeters away from his carotid artery. She just needed to make a small motion with her wrist and his adams apple would split open too, just like Kill Bill.
βI do not detest you Billy. I like your style even. This will be a safe place for you, because my wife likes it. And she holds more power in this family then you will ever understand. So I will allow it. You wonβt be judged in this house for your sexual orientation, your lack of skill and couth, or the actions of your mother. But let me make myself crystal clear for you. If you would like to see the full rath of my power. You will cross a line with my wife again. You are never to mention the bond. Ever. Ever. Again. Not even quizzically to her in passing, I will know. I will hurt you. You will never step foot in my home again. You will never see my wife, ever again. Our bond is not in the syllabus for you.I will remove this knife from your throat when I hear that you understand me. β
βI understand. Iβll never bring it up uh- the bond again.β He says shakily, looking down Agatha in the eye then scrunching his face in fear.
Agatha palmed the knife and then stabbed Billys napkin right above his hand.Β '
