@agaata​ sent: 17. Have you ever had a roleplay partner who helped you to improve something about your own writing quality?

You know I’d consider it a sad thought if someone is so self-absorbed and so self-sure that they can’t admit or say they’ve found growth and development of their characters and writing through interacting with another partner. You’d have to be at a crazy level of insulated you know? And I think I’ve met a few people like that.

Am I one? Fuck no. I’m picking up little things from all my interactions. If I’ve threaded with someone I note all kinds of things about their writing or characterization and thought about how it could help me get better. I’m not writing with them anymore but there was a blog many many years back I wrote Tokyo G.houl with who helped me with getting into my muse’s head and weaving that mental state into narration, for example.

               it  felt  so  awkward  being  out  with  him,   mostly  because  being  around  agata  made  her  feel  smaller  than  she  really  was.   despite  that,   it  was  also  pretty  comforting  in  a  weird  way.   he  was  bigger  than  her   --   bigger  than  a  lot  of  people,   so  she  was  clearly  safe  when  he  was  around.   that  was  quite  good  for  someone  so  unlucky  and  paranoid.

...   paranoid  and  unlucky,   even  just  going  out  shopping.   as  stupid  as  it  sounded,   fleur  always  expected  something  to  happen.   something  could  easily  just  fall  from  a  shelf  and  smack  her  right  on  the  head   --   it  had  happened  before,   though  nothing  that  could  actually  hurt  her.   

oh  well.   she’d  just  make  sure  he  was  standing  near  the  shelves  so  whatever  fell  would  smack  him  instead.

               ❝   hey,   if  there’s  anything  you  want  me  to  make,   let  me  know  and  i’ll  get  the  stuff  for  it.   ❞

for  a  moment,   without  thinking,   she  reaches  out   --   and  then  hesitated  upon  realizing.   would  he  be  okay  with  her  holding  his  hand?   agata  didn’t  really  ever  seem  like  he  would  get  upset  over  something  so  little.

if  she  was  hesitating  so  much,   did  she  even  want  to?   but  if  she  didn’t  want  to,   why  even  reach  out  in  the  first  place?   clearly  she  did,   she  was  just  trying  to  come  up  with  some  stupid  excuse  not  to.

without  allowing  herself  any  more  time  to  overthink  and  back  out  again,   she  quickly  grabs  onto  his  hand.   if  he  said  anything  about  it,   though,   she  was  going  to  regret  her  decision  pretty  quickly.

she  glances  over  to  him,   expression  bored  and  mildly  frustrated.   ophelia  wasn’t  so  sure  what  he  was  supposed  to  be  working  on,   but  she  didn’t  exactly  have  to,   even  if  she  would  like  to.   there  was  a  problem,   though   --   she  was  stuck.   unsure  what  to  write.   

normally,   she  was  much  more  patient,   but  it  had  been  more  than  two  weeks  since  a  good  popped  up,   and  it  was  slowly  driving  her  up  a  wall.   three  people  so  far,   and  none  gave  her  even  a  sliver  of  anything  good,   of  something  exciting  and  new  to  write  about.   

if  he  had  something  to  be  doing,   why  bother  to  hang  around  her?   she  didn’t  mind   --   if  anything,   the  company  was  very  much  welcomed  and  encouraged.   

          ❝   what  are  we  supposed  to  be  doing?   i  don’t  know  about  you,   but  i’ve  got  nothing  right  now,   so   ...   ❞

ophelia  stretches,   legs  pressing  against  the  table  in  front  of  her.   her  chair  tips  backwards,   though  luckily  not  enough  to  fall  over.   ...   she  would  have  just  laughed  like  last  time   --   at  least  that  annoyance  was  beginning  to  fade,   her  usual  more  lazy,   friendly  expression  returning.

he  could  always  help  her  write  something.   maybe  not  in  her  usual,   preferred  method   ...   but  it  wouldn’t  hurt  to  get  some  ideas  the  normal  way.

“I think I would have to for our relationship to actually work kitty.”

Of course it wasn’t exactly normal for an herbivore to be so trusting of a carnivore, especially one that is a known meat-eater, but when was she ever to be known as normal? Her decisions throughout her entire life had always been as a fight against the world for putting her in the body of a dwarf rabbit, but being with Agata felt right.

Perhaps she had some sort of kink when it came to lions? Though, it didn’t feel that way because he’s been the only lion she’s ever really found herself attracted to. Ears twitched slightly as she approached him and wrapped her arms around his waist, to the best of her abilities.

Face pressed lightly against his under belly as she looked up at him, cheeks puffed out ever so slightly. There relationship only worked as well as it did because they had trust, so it seemed silly to even try thinking about anything else other than what they actually felt for one another.

Most club owners had a policy of not allowing gang business inside their venues. This was only as effective as the gangs abided by the policy, which most did--few wanted to disrupt the flow of carnal pleasure. It helped that The Red Chamber was firmly nestled in Shishigumi territory (for the time being), so other factions rarely showed their faces there, and the Shishigumi felt little need to throw their weight around.

Vinay, Cosmo’s manager, also had a strict policy that none of the “guests” were allowed to touch the club’s only herbivore. That was easier to enforce, but more frequently in danger of being broken. He’d sent her out on a mandated break after things had gotten too hot in the club, which is what found her hanging around on a street corner with a cigarette in the low light of the flickering street lamp.

And naturally, there was a Shishigumi lurking about. At least, he probably was--any lion skulking around this part of town was assumed to be Shishigumi, the same way every fox four blocks west was assumed to be Inaragumi.

Cosmo’s heart was still galloping against her ribs from the earlier encounter, and she was sharply aware of the size of the lion, the look of his face, the smell of him. Fear always heightened the senses.

BLOOD TRICKLES FROM HER FOREHEAD ———————— with a now soiled handkerchief she attempts to stop it. the aches felt worse with each passing moment. maybe i should have gone for a kick, she says as she ignores the other putting his hands on her shoulders.

|||First Encounters|||

       The scent of jasmine was in the air, or at least at the tip of her nose. This bushel of jasmine needed to be repotted, and that’s exactly what she’d planned to do. Unfortunately, the herbivore she picked it up from didn’t want to give her the pot. No matter! Worse things. She’d get them back to the garden easy enough.

       Except she’d gotten turned around. Did they switch things around in the market? “Should have went right back there.” She mumbled to herself and the flowers in her arms. Haru paused for a moment to orient herself.

Oof.

       The knock had hit her hard, sending the jasmine from her arms to scatter onto the street. She’d nearly fallen over herself, if it wasn’t for a quick catch of her feet. Her gaze fixed on the followers for a long moment, her heart breaking in a soft spot. Jasmine was such a delicate flower, she’d be lucky if they recovered at all. With a brush of her dress she adjusted herself and turned to the animal that had run into her. She had half a mind to let him have it as he spoke.

      Haru’s gaze lifted far to the carnivore in front of her. Her nose twitched stubbornly. “You really should be watching where you’re going.” She huffed but dropped it to a sigh quickly. It was an accident, the flowers were just really fragile. The pound of her heart jumped against her will and instinct brought her back to her better judgement. She looked back down at the flowers and crouched down to start gathering them again. “It’s alright. I think they’ll be okay.--”
