Go to a computer repair shop to get a new one! It’s soooo much cheaper than going to a place where they only have new ones.

Thanks for the tip. :) I'm not sure how easy Mac cables are to get that way, but - and I'm really proud of myself here - I changed the fuse on the plug and it actually seems to be working! Practical skills ftw!
