Beef patty, emmental cheese, peri peri mayo, sautéed onions, peri peri sauce, treacle cured peri peri rubbed lightly smoked bacon, homemade burger bun. Oh my. Oh my oh my oh my. This was beautiful. 80/20 beef patty made from chuck, rib cap, and sirloin. Their beef is GOOD. But THE BACON, it was it of this world, probably the best bacon I've ever sad. I'm so happy I got to take some home with me. African Volcano has shot right up there as one of my favourite burgers. The Dirty Little Grunter from @africanvolcano at @maltbystmarket. Pork minced patty, caramelised pork belly, pork crackling, vintage cheddar, peri peri mayo, sautéed onion, peri peri sauce, homemade burger bun. It took me over 2 years to finally try African Volcanos burger, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't do it any sooner. This was INCREDIBLE. The pork belly was the softest, silkiest, juiciest pork with a perfect slightly crispy edge around it, but then it's sprinkled with chunks of crackling which adds a crunch and saltiness to it. The pork patty melts in your mouth, and the peri peri sauce and mayo only emphasise the rich flavours from the meat. The buns are all homemade, and the interesting part is the peri peri mayo is mixed in to the baking process. This burger is BIG, so squashing it down was a must, which gave me this volcano-like explosion of juices. This was one of the best things I've eaten in a long time, I'm surprised no one talks about African Volcano more.
