I will never love my enemy. That doctrine was never ours—it was taught to us by those who enslaved, raped, colonized, and exploited us. A Garveyite loves their people fiercely and unapologetically, and knows that loving your enemy means betraying your own. The oppressor should never be the object of our compassion—they should be the object of our resistance. We were not put on this Earth to heal those who built empires on our broken backs. I reserve my love for the African world, not for those who seek to destroy it.
