I wish there were more scenes of him in the game :(

he’s a pillar of strength and good advice for mc and he’s a shoulder to lean on and he always has an ear to lend and he’s her anchor and I am sobbing over him and his protective streak and how he never ever let’s that get in mc’s way because he also knows she can do anything and she’s so so strong and he believes in her and and and and and

do u ever think that the only reason josh stayed was for mc? because she wanted to stay, because she wasn’t ready to leave, because she didn’t want to keep the gods in her past? because she wanted to stay close to her mother, wanted to follow in her footsteps?

josh doesn’t care about the gods. he doesn’t want to hear about them, and only does so when he knows mc needs him to. when it’s a choice between her safety and well-being, and his ignorance.

he can’t even reach his mother- she’s buried on olympus, kept away from him and mc both. his father is gone.

maybe he could have gone anywhere at all in the world once he finished his schooling. maybe he would have.

he wouldn’t have followed his dad, i think- their father burned his bridges with josh and mc both by leaving the moment he could. i don’t think josh would ever forgive him for acting the way he did in their time of shared grief, or when mc was still his responsibility.

maybe if mc had been ready to leave, too, they would have both left.

i guess, i don’t think josh would ever leave if she’s there. he cares too much and still feels too protective of her after everything- their mother, their father, and living in a city of gods and monsters.

alex and josh saw each other a Lot growing up, considering they were the same age and their mothers were often hanging around each other

they were friendly with one another, but they didn’t typically share their interests, didn’t have much in common so sometimes it was a little awkward between them

alex was always faster than josh, so they usually won whatever game they were playing- tag, soccer, etc. josh did better at board games, but they weren’t usually at a place where they could play those

what really helps the two bond is mc- when she’s born, both want to protect her and make her laugh that cute baby laugh(tm).

theyre just. always pretty polite with each other, sometimes they get into little play-fights or they rough-house with one another but it’s almost always good-natured

growing up was a lot of the same, both friends but not having many common interests. they would hang out from time to time, and they’d often be asked to babysit mc while their moms were at work and josh’s dad was travelling for his own job. 

when josh’s mom died, alex offered as much comfort as they could, but it took some time for josh to come around; he blamed olympus for what happened. not alex themself, but they were a part of what took his mom away, and it was hard to look them in the eye for awhile. 

HOWEVER once they get past that bump in their friendship, alex asks josh for tips on cooking and josh obliges, but there’s no amount of tips that could save alex from burning their food. josh loses it over alex’s inability to cook most things and it brings on a lot of teasing and bumping shoulders (and some kicking under the table which is, frankly, hilarious-)

they don’t meet up with each other too often but if josh asks to hang out, alex always makes the time because despite their differences, josh is one of alex’s best friends, too, and their actual oldest one.
