the family disappointment
aka brooklyn’s ultimate fear
Brooklyn let the door fall shut behind her, staring at her phone. She was trying to make dinner plans with her family, but it was like trying to herd drunk cats. The blonde huffed and gave up. She was about to put it away when her father finally answered her text.Â
[text; daddio] Just quit
Brooklyn froze, staring at the ext in confusion.
[text; marge] Just leave, Brooklyn. You’re not even a part of this family. No one wants you in this school either.Â
The blonde’s hands began to tremble, and she looked around the hall to see if anyone else was there.Â
“No...stop...” She said, starting to cry.
[text; b-killer] You’re not cut out for this, Brooklyn. You’re just a burden.
Brooklyn rushed to her room and slammed the door, her hands shaking still. She couldn’t respond to the texts between her tears and the unsteady hand. “Why, stop!” She tried to call her dad, but there was no answer. “Daddy...”
[text; twinzo] Good job, Brooklyn. Steve’s giving us back.
Brooklyn dropped to her knees. “N-no...he can’t...he can’t do that...”
[text; daddio] Leave.
The bubbly blonde dissolved into tears, throwing her phone against the wall and tearing the door back open. She ran out and back to the outside, planning on leaving the school. But, as she stepped out the doors, she froze.Â
“What the hell?” Brooklyn wiped her eyes, staring at the wetness on her hand. “Oh...kay?”
