    “I-I have no idea what you’re talking about…” Though, okay, maybe parts of that were true, though he wasn’t about to admit which ones.

{    This has been a blur, crimson and shouts mixing with the mantra in his      chest, the beating that sent him flying down the halls to the THING that      stalked them all. He attacked, thoughts sitting far from the blinding static      snow of his outrage, ignoring his heart, ignoring the rules he’d set for      himself.

     Vicious as he digs into this beast’s back, twisting the blade even as the      creature tries to shake him off. Teeth bared even as he’s yanked to the      ground -- into a pool of blood, he notices. He’s quick to get off his back,      quick to step around his friend and gain some ground between them two,      not daring to glance down. There’s nothing he can do for them right now.      Glared at the face of this thing and decided he hates it. Though it wears      the face of his friend, his brother, he refuses to be fooled any longer. Fire      and smoke on his tongue, the feeling of a growl deep in his throat. Hands      shaking but not from fear.    }

“        Shut the fuck up. Neither of us are done           here. So come on already. ”

{    Too close once again, caught off guard but also not. He knows he      wandered too far into the ship, dared to scavenge where he could      be seen, but he had to. He wasn’t done with what he wanted to do,      wasn’t finished just yet, and perhaps the beast saw that distraction.      Perhaps boldness pressed Keith onwards, knowing the danger,      knowing that he himself is dangerous.

     Kuro comes up on him quietly, managing to get too close. Digits      curling into cotton, pulling backwards, and Keith, impulsive Keith,      twisted and ducked. Allowed the shirt to be pulled off, a wolf      chewing off its own leg to escape a trap.               ( your luck is running out, keith. )

     A few steps back, distance created to try and regain his bearings;      looking for a way past him, something to avoid a fight, anything.      Bare chest lifted, fell, as adrenaline kicked in and the cold prickled      goosebumps along his arms. Scarring was rare along his body,      but each one was deep and heavy. The most prominent at his      shoulder, stretching down past his collarbone, followed by another      shorter scar just below his right set of ribs. Light played across a      dim set of abs, and down between prominent hip bones – –

{    Some part of him wondered if he’d gotten away with murder, with nothing      more than a hissed whine from Shiro tossed at Keith’s retreating back. He      made it through the rest of the day with nothing and figured he made it      home free. Relaxed and wandered back to his room as the others did as      well, not quite looking forward to that cold room but at least the mattress      is soft and he’s gathered enough pillows to find comfort in boxing himself      in in the plushness.

     A surprised yelp as he’s grabbed, yanked back against someone’s chest      and he twists as best he can, adrenaline snapping through his body and      he’s ready to fight to escape --                 -- oh. Just Shiro. Grins.    }

Hey Shiro. Guess if you’re reading this, I’m gone. Sorry I couldn’t be more graceful about my wording but I’ve always been blunt about things. I’m writing this at about 2 in the morning and I can hear you doing patrols. You passed by my door for the fourth time some time ago. I wish you’d sleep more. I know you need it. Sometimes I wonder what you think about when you’re walking the halls. Do you think about the past or the future? Do you think about anything at all? 

I just heard you stop at my door. I thought you were going to knock but you kept going. You know you can come in right? You’re welcome here.. but I guess my actions lately have shown you otherwise. Sorry. Lately it’s been hard for me to want to stay. With the team. With you. It’s not really your fault. I just wish you’d listen to me more. I wish I could feel comfortable enough with myself to be okay with leading. All our lives have changed so fast and I don’t know if anyone has a problem with it. Maybe it’s just me. It’s so hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that people need me.

Y’know, I keep thinking about our little escapes from the castle. Wish we’d gotten slushies when we went to Earth. I’ve never tried the grape one but I think I wouldn’t have drank it anyway. Probably would’ve set it down somewhere and left it or given it to you. Do you even like grape? I gotta remember to ask you. But looking back on all that, I knew even then that it’d be one of those cliche flashbacks to a better time when we could just be us. As much as a bad idea that was. Go us. Just a couple of kids in New York or just messing around on the ship. I regret telling you certain things. Wish I’d reeled myself in more but it was so nice to feel human for a little while.

There you go again. You didn’t stop this time. I’m not sure if I should run out and apologize for our argument or not. I don’t know if you want to talk to me. I pushed you away and I know it hurt you. I wish I wasn’t this way. I wish I could be a better person but I’m not even half of one, so I mean. I’m sorry. If I don’t have time to say it later, I’m sorry. I’m not used to being so important. I’m an orphan with a bonfire temper and seriously lacking direction for a good 80% of my life. Voltron changed my life, you changed my life, and I still don’t know how to handle it.

I guess.. since these are going to be my last words until I can rewrite this, I might as well talk about what comes next. I’d like to be buried with my dad back on Earth. His coordinates are included. You can keep my things if they’re still intact or you can bury them with me, either way, it’s your choice. The team can take whatever they want in the shack I lived in for a while too. It’s fine.

I guess that’s it. Don’t tear yourself up too much over me, okay? The team still needs you. Get more rest. Eat something now and again. Life will move on without me. I want you to as well.
