I'm not romantically attracted to anyone, but man do I like romantic fantasy. Never with real people.

Alt text:
I used to be very romance repulsed as an aromantic, but as time went on, I learned to tune out the societal pressures for romance. I no longer felt bombarded by it since I could separate it from my own path in life. As a result, I no longer felt the need to defend myself against the notion of romance now that I didn’t feel it’s expectations on me. I actually discovered I like romance… just in a detached sort of way. I spend hours immersing myself in romance, but only in a way I am not directly involved. I enjoy the magic of being an outside observer of a good romance story. Although I myself never appear in my romantic daydreams, I can get warm fuzzies and butterflies when thinking of a fictional relationship. Part of the appeal is that it’s fantasy. It’s not real so I ger that comfortable separation of romance from life… but I still get the thrill of love. I’m just an aro who loves his romance! I guess that’s why I resonate with the term aegoromantic despite it being a micro label.
hey, reminder that even if an aromantic person enjoys and participates in romance, that doesn't make them any less aromantic! lack of attraction does not automatically mean lack of interest!
in a similar vein, don't assume an aromantic person suddenly feels attraction just because they enjoy physical and/or emotional intimacy! no action is inherently romantic unless explicitly intended to be!
being aegoromantic and/or aegosexual is genuinely incredibly awesome. i can find stuff intriguing and not have to deal with actually being involved. best of both worlds to me. also we get cool triangles on our flag/s. triangles are awesome and you can't really deny this fact.
Found this old artwork of different aro/ace speck identities as cats!
I think its still cute (fun fact i use that aroace design in my stickers still)
Should redraw it and maybe add some

I want a boyfriend, but like, in an aromantic way.
Like, maybe our relationship is queerplatonic but really resembles a romantic relationship, so everyone thinks we're romantic and we know how we feel. Or maybe one of us likes the other romantically and the other person loves them in their own aro way. Or maybe we're platonic life partners who use the term 'boyfriend.'
